Refrigeration Engineer Commercial Supermarket Refrigeration – CO₂ Location: Essex Salary: Up to £50,000 Basic + Overtime + Standby Payments On-Call: 1 in 4 Holiday: 33 Days Including Bank Holidays Package: Company Vehicle, Fuel Card, Uniform & Specialist Tools About the Opportunity An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to join a growing team supporting established supermarket and retail customers throughout Essex. The position is ideal for an engineer who already has a solid background in commercial refrigeration and is looking to develop their career within the supermarket sector. You will be working with modern CO₂ refrigeration systems, while additional training in hydrocarbon refrigerants will be provided to the successful candidate. This makes the role particularly attractive to engineers who are keen to broaden their technical knowledge and work with newer refrigeration technologies. Your Responsibilities Working across supermarket and retail environments, your duties will include: Servicing and maintaining commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment Carrying out repairs and responding to refrigeration breakdowns Diagnosing faults and identifying the most effective solutions Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) Working on CO₂ refrigeration plant and equipment Providing a professional service to customers Completing service documentation accurately Taking part in the 1-in-4 on-call rota Skills & Experience To be considered, you should have: Previous experience within commercial refrigeration F-Gas qualification Strong refrigeration fault-finding and diagnostic skills Full UK driving licence A positive attitude and willingness to learn The ability to adapt to new refrigeration technologies Previous experience with CO₂ systems is advantageous but not essential, so this could also suit an engineer looking to move further into supermarket refrigeration.
