Firmware Engineer | Cambridge | Hybrid | £35-45k DOE | Medical Devices We're partnering with a market-leading biotech & biomedical research company. Here, you'll play a key role in development, working across FPGA and embedded firmware development, you'll design and implement high-performance digital hardware, develop low-level software, and contribute throughout the full product development lifecycle. There is a clear progression route to senior engineering roles here, so you'll be joining a company that cares about your development, and will give you real project ownership from day one. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging products that directly support cutting-edge scientific research in neuroscience, physiology and biomedical. Job Responsibilities * Design, develop and verify FPGA functionality using VHDL for high-performance data acquisition and signal processing systems. * Develop embedded software in C to control hardware, implement low-level functionality and interface with FPGA-based systems. * Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate, test and optimise new features across complex electronic products. Technical Requirements * Strong commercial experience using VHDL. * Strong programming skills in C for embedded systems or low-level hardware control. * Experience designing and debugging digital electronic systems, including hardware/software integration. * Familiarity with FPGA development environments such as AMD/Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus. * Experience with communication interfaces such as SPI, I²C, UART, USB or Ethernet. * Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline.
