Job Description
Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Location: Somerset Job Type: Full-Time Long Term (5 days a week), Day to Day Supply Pay Rate: £100 - £140 per day Job Overview: Supply Staff Ltd is seeking experienced and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across primary schools in Somerset. As an HLTA, you will take on increased responsibility within the classroom, supporting teachers, leading learning activities and working independently with groups or whole classes when required. You will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, progress and behaviour across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Key Responsibilities: * Lead lessons, learning activities and interventions under the direction of teaching staff. * Take responsibility for groups or whole classes when required. * Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and learning activities. * Work with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and progress. * Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs where required. * Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management. * Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence. * Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other school colleagues to support pupils' development. * Provide guidance and support to Teaching Assistants where appropriate. Requirements: * Previous experience working as an HLTA or in a highly experienced Teaching Assistant role is required. * A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Teaching Assistance or an equivalent relevant qualification. * A recognised HLTA qualification or HLTA status is highly desirable. * Strong classroom and behaviour management skills. * Confident leading lessons, activities and groups of pupils independently. * Good understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. * Experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs would be ideal. * Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills. * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply. * Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
