Job Description
This role has a starting salary of £49,464 - £52,864 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. We are excited to be hiring an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our fantastic Mid Mental Health Social Care Team based at Pippbrook House in Dorking, supporting residents across the local boroughs of Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell and Mole Valley. This role is open to hybrid working and, as a team, we split our time between collaborating with colleagues in the office, working within the communities we serve and working from home. We work closely with health colleagues, partner agencies, families and carers to promote recovery, independence and wellbeing. The team is committed to strengths-based practice and works with individuals whose circumstances are often complex and require skilled, legally literate and relationship-based interventions. Staff benefit from strong management oversight, regular supervision, peer support and opportunities for continued professional development. About the Role As an Approved Mental Health Professional, you will play a key role in ensuring Surrey County Council fulfils its statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will undertake Mental Health Act assessments and contribute to the effective operation of the AMHP service. Alongside your AMHP responsibilities, you will manage a caseload undertaking Care Act assessments, safeguarding enquiries, Mental Capacity Act work and Section 117 aftercare reviews. You will work collaboratively with health services, police, ambulance services, hospitals, housing providers and community organisations to achieve positive outcomes for residents. The role requires confident decision-making, strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively within complex multi-agency environments.
