Tradewind Recruitment in Whitstable is working with a number of specialist SEN schools across Thanet who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join their teams.
These schools support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, moderate learning difficulties, complex needs and associated behavioural challenges.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access education, develop confidence and achieve their personal goals. You will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide individualised support, encourage independence and create a positive, nurturing learning environment.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with their learning, communication and personal development
Build positive and trusting relationships with students
Assist teachers in delivering engaging classroom activities
Provide emotional and behavioural support where required
Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence
Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring they feel safe, valued and included
Work as part of a dedicated team of teachers, therapists and support staffWhat We Are Looking For

Patient, caring and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting young people
Confident building relationships with children and teenagers
Positive and adaptable, with the ability to respond calmly to different situations
Reliable and committed to supporting students on a long-term basis
Interested in developing a career within SEN educationPrevious experience working with children, young people, SEN, care, youth work, sports, mentoring or support roles is desirable.
