CNC Machinist
📍 Southwark, London
💰 Up to £65,000 OTE + Paid Overtime
⏰ 10-Hour Shifts | Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a growing precision engineering business manufacturing high-precision components for the aerospace, defence, energy and robotics sectors. This is a hands-on position offering ownership of the complete machining process, from programming and setup through to inspection and final delivery.
Working with advanced CNC technology and challenging materials including titanium and Inconel, you'll play a key role in producing complex components to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set and operate advanced CNC machinery, including 3-axis, 5-axis and mill-turn machines
Create, simulate and optimise CAM programs using Fusion, hyperMILL, Mastercam or similar software
Prove out first-off components to demanding aerospace and defence standards
Select appropriate tooling, fixturing, work-holding methods and cutting parameters
Machine aluminium, steel, titanium and Inconel components to tight tolerances
Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specifications
Support new product introduction activities and provide Design for Manufacture (DfM) feedback
Drive continuous improvement initiatives around cycle times, setup reduction and manufacturing efficiency
Requirements
Strong CNC machining experience, including programming, setting and operating
Experience with CAM software such as Fusion, hyperMILL, Mastercam or equivalent
Previous experience on machines such as Hermle, DMG Mori, Mazak or similar
Ability to achieve tight tolerances of ±0.01mm and below
Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, fixturing and work-holding techniques
Background machining complex components within aerospace, defence or other high-specification industries
Knowledge of 5-axis machining, probing, automation or pallet systems would be advantageous
Familiarity with AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality standards
