Job Description
Job Title: Multi Skilled Engineer Location: Birmingham Day Rate: Competitive Job Type: 3 Months Contract Key Multi Skilled Engineer Responsibilities: * Respond to breakdown calls as the first responder on shift * Diagnose faults across mechanical and electrical/instrumentation systems independently * Carry out emergency repairs safely under Lead Engineer direction * Perform fault-finding on PLCs, sensors, drives and control panels * Carry out mechanical repairs including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors and pumps * Carry out electrical repairs including motors, starters, switchgear and wiring faults * Safely isolate and reinstate equipment under Permit to Work procedures * Complete CMMS breakdown work orders with accurate fault descriptions and actions taken * Provide technical input to Lead Engineer during RCA investigations * Support production restart and sign off equipment for return to service * Execute PPM work orders assigned by the Lead Engineer through the CMMS * Carry out condition monitoring including vibration, thermal imaging and lubrication * Perform electrical testing including insulation resistance, earth continuity and PAT * Inspect and maintain control panels, junction boxes and cable runs Required Multi Skilled Engineer Experience: Essential Experience: * Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering experience * Experience working within FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing * Strong experience responding to breakdowns and diagnosing equipment faults independently * Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance * Strong fault-finding experience across PLCs, sensors, drives and control panels * Experience with mechanical equipment including bearings, gearboxes, conveyors and pumps * Experience using a CMMS to complete maintenance work orders and update asset records * Experience working with Permit to Work and safe isolation procedures Qualifications & Experience: * City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification (required) * Mechanical and Electrical/E&I engineering qualification * Experience with PLC fault-finding and control systems * Experience with RCA and corrective actions * Experience working within a BRCGS-accredited food manufacturing environment
