Job Title: Electrical Estimator
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000
Benefits: Company vehicle, 21 days holiday plus bank holidays, employee profit share scheme
A leading M&E Contractor based in Peterborough is looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with an experienced and commercially focused Electrical Estimator.
They provide M&E services to a wide range of clients and businesses across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, retail and industrial. These projects are typically valued between £10,000 to £1M.
As the Electrical Estimator, you will have the following responsibilities:
* Preparing and submitting accurate and competitive electrical tenders from £10,000 to £1M.
* Review and interpret contract design and construction drawings.
* Analyse documents, scope of works, material and time calculations for electrical installations.
* Assess project profitability and suggest ways to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
* Prepare valuations and final accounts.
* Attend site surveys or tender interviews to develop business to the company.
* Liaise with clients and project teams to assess, price and prepare variations as required, providing ongoing support throughout the project.
* Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, material prices and labour costs ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
* Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical systems and their installation methods.
* Proven experience of working as an electrical estimator within a similar environment including electrical installations and design and build projects.
* Knowledge and understanding of the contract design and construction drawings.
* The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.
* The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.
* Confident communicator.
* Strong negotiation skills.
* NVQ City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations (or equivalent).
