FACTORY MANAGER – METALWORK & FABRICATION Colchester, Essex 💷 £60,000–£70,000 DOE ⏰ Full-time | Approximately 50 hours per week 🚨 Urgent requirement Shero Talent Consultancy is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Factory Manager for an established architectural and sheet-metal fabrication company based in Earls Colne. Operating from a factory of approximately 25,000 sq. ft. and turning over around £10 million, this is a key leadership position responsible for managing a team of approximately 15–20 skilled fabricators and welders. Key responsibilities: Managing the day-to-day operation of the factory Leading, organising and motivating the fabrication team Planning production schedules and preparing upcoming work Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and on time Reading and interpreting technical drawings Monitoring workmanship and completing quality checks Allocating labour, materials and equipment effectively Coordinating transport, deliveries and collections Maintaining high standards of health and safety Working closely with senior management and project teams Identifying and resolving production issues before they cause delays The ideal candidate will have: A minimum of 5–10 years’ experience managing a sizeable factory or fabrication operation A strong background in architectural metalwork, sheet metal, mild steel, welding or fabrication Previous experience managing teams of fabricators and welders Excellent production-planning and organisational skills The ability to understand technical and fabrication drawings Strong knowledge of quality control and factory processes A hands-on, committed and dependable management style Flexibility to work additional hours or occasional weekends when projects require it Typical working hours are approximately 7:00am–4:00pm/5:00pm, with an expectation of around 50 hours per week.
