Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Location: Lewisham, London Salary: £110 - £130 per day, depending on qualifications and experience. Contract: Temporary; full-time availability preferred, working pattern to be agreed Start date: 05/10/2026 Hours: Term time - 8:30 - 3:30 - school day Ready to use your classroom experience in a role with more responsibility? Transparency Education is recruiting for two Higher Level Teaching Assistant positions in Lewisham. As an HLTA, you will combine planned class cover with targeted support for individuals and small groups. You should be comfortable leading learning, explaining tasks clearly and giving teachers useful feedback on what pupils have understood. Responsibilities • Lead planned learning activities under the direction of teaching staff • Provide whole-class cover within the agreed scope of the role • Deliver literacy or numeracy interventions and review progress • Adapt resources to support different learning needs • Maintain positive behaviour and established classroom routines • Share assessment observations with teachers and the SENCO Requirements • HLTA status or equivalent experience carrying out higher-level classroom responsibilities • A strong background in primary education • Confidence leading a class and managing groups independently • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one.
