Job Description
An excellent opportunity for a Junior Health & Safety professional to join an established main contractor and develop their career across a diverse portfolio of major construction and civil engineering projects in London. The company operates across a wide range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, defence, industrial, residential, transport, marine and infrastructure, giving the successful candidate exposure to a broad range of construction environments. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Junior Health & Safety Advisor to join their London team. The Role This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their H&S career who is looking to gain valuable experience working alongside an established SHEQ team and on high-value construction projects. You will support the wider Health & Safety function and project teams, gaining exposure to site inspections, audits, risk management, documentation and workforce engagement. Your responsibilities will include: * Supporting Health & Safety Managers and Advisors across live projects * Carrying out regular site inspections and safety observations * Assisting with H&S audits and compliance checks * Supporting the review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements * Assisting with the preparation and review of Construction Phase Plans * Monitoring compliance with company H&S procedures * Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations * Assisting with toolbox talks and safety briefings * Supporting the delivery of site inductions * Identifying unsafe practices and assisting with corrective actions * Maintaining H&S records and documentation * Assisting with environmental and quality compliance where required * Working with site management and subcontractors to promote safe working practices * Supporting the implementation of company H&S initiatives * Helping to develop a positive and proactive safety culture across projects Ideally, you will have: * Previous experience within construction or civil engineering * Some exposure to site-based Health & Safety * A relevant Health & Safety qualification or working towards one * NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications * Good understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation * Strong communication skills * Good attention to detail and organisational ability * Confidence communicating with site teams and subcontractors * A proactive attitude and willingness to learn * A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in Health & Safety The right attitude and willingness to develop are just as important as previous experience.
