This role would particularly suit a graduate engineer or someone with around one year's industry experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. The Opportunity
As a Design Engineer, you'll be entrusted with managing multiple projects simultaneously, transforming customer requirements and fire strategies into innovative, compliant, and high-quality system designs.
This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to influence project outcomes, solve technical challenges, and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders throughout the design process.
Key Responsibilities
Develop fire alarm and smoke ventilation system designs from customer specifications and fire strategies
Produce design specifications and supporting technical documentation
Carry out engineering calculations to validate system performance and compliance
Create and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings and design packages
Maintain accurate project documentation and design status records
Provide technical support and respond to customer design queries
Attend project handover meetings and collaborate with internal teams
Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions
Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure successful project deliveryAbout You
You'll be a proactive and technically capable engineer who enjoys problem-solving, managing projects, and working collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 1 year's experience
Degree-qualified or completed an engineering apprenticeship
Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D design
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlinesDesirable Skills
Knowledge of mechanical and natural smoke control systems
Experience with car park smoke clearance systems
Understanding of fire detection and alarm systems
Experience within electrical, HVAC, or building services design (desirable)
Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), controls theory, and control systemsWhat's in It for You?
