Job Description
Senior Mechanical Estimator West Yorkshire Up to £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Benefits Parkinson Gray Associates is recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join the M&E division of an established building services contractor. The successful candidate will work within an existing estimating team and take responsibility for the preparation of competitive mechanical tenders across a variety of commercial projects. You will manage tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and subsequent handover, ensuring costs, scope, risk and potential commercial exposure are fully understood before a bid is submitted. The client’s role profile specifically requires detailed estimating from drawings and take-offs, subcontract package assessment, market-rate benchmarking and full tender handover following successful bids. Key Responsibilities * Prepare detailed mechanical estimates and tender submissions. * Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation. * Produce accurate labour and material take-offs. * Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations. * Price elements from first principles where appropriate. * Identify risk, uncertainty and appropriate tender contingencies. * Benchmark pricing against historic projects and current market rates. * Participate in tender launch, review and adjudication meetings. * Liaise with commercial, operational and procurement teams. * Support tender negotiations and clarifications. * Produce detailed handover information for successful projects. * Ensure bids remain commercially viable while retaining competitiveness. The Successful Candidate * Significant mechanical estimating experience within the construction or building services sector. * Strong knowledge of mechanical services, materials and installation methods. * Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, BOQs and contract documents. * Good understanding of M&E design principles. * Strong numerical and IT skills. * Commercial awareness and the ability to identify risk. * Good negotiation skills. * Ability to manage several tenders at once. * Strong organisational and communication skills
