Mechanical Day Shift Engineer Liverpool Street, City of London £50,000 per annum  An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Shift Engineer to join an established building services and facilities management provider working on a prestigious commercial site in Liverpool Street, City of London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer looking for a stable, long-term position within a professional site environment. You will join a dedicated on-site engineering team and be responsible for maintaining a wide range of mechanical and building services systems across the facility. The role operates on a 4 days on / 4 days off shift pattern, working day shifts only, providing an attractive work-life balance while offering the opportunity to work within a high-profile commercial environment. Key Responsibilities Carry out scheduled planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with site procedures and maintenance schedules. Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns. Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Undertake remedial and corrective works as required. Maintain and inspect Air Handling Units (AHUs) and associated equipment. Service and maintain Fan Coil Units (FCUs). Inspect and maintain pumps, including bearings, couplings and mechanical seals. Carry out water hygiene and water treatment duties, including temperature checks, tap testing and dosing. Complete routine inspections of cooling towers and associated systems. Monitor and maintain chilled water systems. Undertake general plumbing and mechanical maintenance tasks. Assist with the maintenance and testing of generators and associated plant. Inspect and maintain pressurisation units. Monitor building systems and respond to alarms using the BMS. Carry out maintenance on CRAC units, motors and other mechanical plant. Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with health & safety requirements and site procedures. Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any defects or issues to the relevant management team. Provide a professional and customer-focused service while working alongside the wider site team. Requirements Recognised mechanical qualification such as City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Previous experience working within commercial building services or facilities maintenance. Strong practical knowledge of mechanical building services and associated plant. Experience with PPM and reactive maintenance. Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability. Previous experience working on large or complex commercial sites is advantageous. An apprenticeship background within mechanical engineering or building services would be desirable. Comfortable working independently while also being part of a wider engineering team. Professional approach with strong communication and client-facing skills. Good understanding of health & safety procedures and safe systems of work.
