Civil General Operatives
Summary
We are seeking experienced Civil General Operatives to support a major project at Steel. This temporary role is ideal for those with a strong background in civil engineering, groundworks or utilities who want to play a key part in delivering safe and efficient operations.
Salary
PAYE Basic Rate: £16.85 per hour (+ £2.37 holiday pay = £19.22)
Umbrella Rate: £22.68 per hour
Overtime Rates:
OT x1.4: £26.90 PAYE Total / £31.74 Umbrella
OT x1.8: £34.59 PAYE Total / £40.82 UmbrellaLocation and Working Pattern
Site: Industrial
Duration: 3–4 months
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 10–12 hours per dayClient Overview
Our client is a renowned operator in the steel manufacturing sector, recognised for maintaining high safety and operational standards across its sites.
Responsibilities
Prepare work areas, clear debris, and assist with temporary works.
Safely handle and store materials through manual handling or basic plant.
Assist civil trades such as groundworkers, steel fixers and machine operators.
Perform labouring tasks including digging, backfilling, and compacting.
Follow HSE regulations, maintain PPE use, report hazards and uphold site safety.
Operate small tools (such as wackers, saws, breakers) if trained, ensuring tools remain in good condition.
Maintain tidy working areas and clear access routes.
Carry out instructions from supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.Must-have Requirements
CSCS or CCNSG card.
Experience in civil engineering, groundworks, utilities, or general construction.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow site instructions.
Good physical fitness and strong awareness of site safety.
Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials and processes.
Driving licence preferred.Nice-to-have Skills
CPCS cards or plant machinery experience.
