Product Development Test Engineer - V&V
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Contract: 12 months
IR35: Outside IR35
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Product Development Test Engineer to support the design and execution of Verification & Validation (V&V) activities for complex, integrated products.
This is a technical V&V role within a product development environment and requires experience testing integrated machines incorporating electromechanical hardware, firmware, control systems and software.
Software testing experience alone will not be suitable for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Design V&V activities for complex, integrated machines
Create test plans and detailed test protocols, including test cases and test methods
Support test execution and management of test documentation
Record and manage anomalies and produce test reports
Develop templates for test documentation and reporting
Lead reviews of test protocols with wider engineering teams
Maintain clear documentation and traceability throughout the V&V process
Work collaboratively with engineering and product development teams
Apply initiative and continuous self-learning to develop technical knowledge and solve problems
Essential Experience
Proven experience designing V&V activities within a product development environment
Experience testing complex, integrated machines/products
Experience spanning electromechanical hardware, firmware, control systems and software
Strong understanding of test planning, test protocols, test cases and test methods
Excellent documentation, planning and reporting skills, particularly where traceability is critical
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with wider engineering teams and lead protocol reviews
Experience working within a new product development (NPD) environment
Ability to work independently, use initiative and continuously develop technical knowledge
Desirable
Experience, understanding or interest in physics, biology or fluid mechanics
Experience within a highly regulated or technically complex product environment
Experience working with medical, laboratory, scientific or other complex instrumentation
The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys problem solving and using initiative to self-learn and navigate new territory in a New Product Development environment, with a good understanding of how hardware, firmware, controls and software work together as a complete system.
